Smoking Allowed: No Poker Room Rate: No Editor's Review - Harrah's Poker Room Total Rating: 3.10 Room Quality Rating: 4 After acquiring the rights to the WSOP, Harrah's Hotel opened a poker room in summer 2004. The Harrah's Hotel poker room is located where the old race and sports book was located. This is excellent for sportsfans looking for a place to play poker. Harrah's poker room is equipped with the best television setup of any poker room on the strip. Practically any game you want to watch can be shown upon request. There is (1) large projection TV in the center of the room, (4) 60" big screen TV's, and (10) 30" televisions surrounding the perimeter of the poker room. The overall atmosphere in the room is good. The poker room is enclosed on all sides with large glass windows protecting poker players from all the noise on the casino floor. The tables are in good condition, but the chairs are nothing special. The room is also well organized, and keeping up with the modern poker rooms Harrah's offers two televisions near the manager's desk that display the list queue for each limit. On busy weekends, this really helps the room stay organized because there are not so many people standing around asking where they are on the list -- players can clearly see how many names are in ahead of them. Finally, Harrah's offers something really unusual in its poker room -- a clock. That's right! A working clock, that tells the time. Yes, it's small. But, it's there -- sitting right above the manager's desk. This is one of the only clocks you will find in a Las Vegas casino, so take a picture of it and tell all your friends. Competition Rating: 3 Competition at Harrah's is average. I have only played the 2/4 and 4/8 games, and the action is about what you will find at most other Vegas card rooms. The players are not especially good, nor extraordinarily bad. Dealer Rating: 3 Dealers at Harrah's are average. They're pretty fast, and tend not to make too many mistakes. Actually, I only recall one mis-deal at Harrah's, which is very good considering I've probably played there 10 to 15 hours. However, the dealers are not very friendly. Don't play at Harrah's if you're the kind of guy that likes to gab it up with the poker dealer, because it aint going to happen. They're just not very personable. Cocktail Rating: 2 There are some hotels that are known for their beautiful cocktail waitresses. Harrah's is not one of them. Although the cocktail waitresses at Harrah's are pretty good in terms of service speed, they are well below average in terms of looks. Many of them are overweight, and unattractive. There is one huge plus about Harrah's though -- they serve Red Bull !! Harrah's is one of the only poker rooms in Vegas that actually serves authentic Red Bull energy drinks to players. Unfortunately, this doesn't improve the way the cocktail waitresses look -- so it won't improve Harrah's poker room score in the waitress category. I should also mention that Harrah's poker room is one of the few poker rooms that offers table-side food service. It's served on a small tray right next to your poker table. You just pay for it in cash. The food is reasonably priced and just what the doctored ordered during any 6+ hour poker session. Management Rating: 4 Harrah's poker room management is above average. When I have had questions or problems about the room, or whatever, the management have always been friendly and helpful. On one particular occasion I inquired about the NFL football games that were scheduled to be broadcast in the poker room. The desk manager actually called the sportsbook to find out specifically which games were being broadcast, and he told me that if there was a particular game I wanted to see, that he would do his best to get it on a TV screen. Definitely above average service. Comps Rating: 1 Harrah's poker room does not offer any comps at this time. That sucks, especially considering the $4 rake on all games.
