However, the Ballys poker room is in the middle of the casino, so it is no problem to stand up and have a smoke. Poker Room Rate: Yes A poker room rate is available, but exact details are unclear. Contact the poker room directly for more information. Editor's Review - Bally's Poker Room Total Rating: 3.40 Room Quality Rating: 3 Bally's poker room isn't much of a "room." This is because the poker tables at Bally's are smack in the middle of the casino floor. Bally's is not the poker room to visit if you are looking for an intimate and/or quiet poker environment. Bally's poker room is loud. There are craps tables and slot machines nearby, there is a small bar less than three feet from the poker tables, and there is a lounge featuring live music not very far away. It is a lively environment, just like you would expect to find in any wide open casino floor in Vegas. An advantage of Bally's poker room location is its tendency to attract novice poker players. The poker room is inviting because it is not closed off from the casino. Inexperienced players are more likely to sit down without feeling intimidated. Nobody will feel like they are walking into a shark tank. The poker tables are relatively new, and of average quality. There are built-in auto-shufflers, but no drink holders. Each poker table is branded with the Bally's logo. The poker chairs are standard black chairs with no frills. Bally's poker room features a computerized list management system. This system displays the wait-list information on two plasma televisions at the entrance of the poker room. This system really helps keep waiting players informed of their respective positions in the queue, and it helps the poker room staff manage the room effectively. There are also six televisions around the perimeter of the poker room. They are not large screen televisions, nor are they high definition, but they are easily visible for most players. Competition Rating: 5 The poker players at Bally's are terrible. Bally's really attracts soft and inexperienced poker players. On each visit, I have consistently encountered abnormally bad players at each game Bally's offers. I'm talking about players that have literally never sat down in a live poker game before. At least at the lower limit Hold'em games ($2/4, $4/8) you should expect to regularly see five to six player to a flop. These players also tend to disregard pre-flop raises. You can expect your fair share of suck-outs, but patience will be paid in the long run. The No Limit game is tighter, but it is still consistently among the softest No Limit games in Vegas. Bally's poker room is a good bet for any average to above-average low limit player looking for a soft game. Dealer Rating: 3 The dealers at Bally's poker room are competent, but are not very personable. This is not necessarily bad. They sit down, and they do their job. I have not encountered any annoying or incompetent dealers, but I have not encountered any real stand-outs either. Cocktail Rating: 4 If I had to rate the Bally's cocktail waitresses solely on attractiveness, I would rate them a one. These women are not hot. Most are older (we're talking grandma old), and their outfits are hideous. How hideous? Just picture a prom dress circa 1940. But, what these women lack in the good looks department they make up for in sheer speed. These ladies are LIGHTNING fast! I mean, smoking fast! They're so fast because the bar where the drinks are made is about three feet from the poker tables. This means that grandma transforms into a speed demon with a cocktail tray. If you're playing poker to get drunk, then Bally's poker room is the place to do it. Nothing beats this place in terms of speed of service. Additionally, these older cocktail waitresses are genuinely pleasant and accommodating. For example, a waitress brought me a drink less than 30 seconds after I sat down even though I had just missed her order rotation. Yes, of course she was older, especially by Vegas cocktail waitress standards, but something tells me if she was young and smoke'n hot she wouldn't be nearly as friendly. These ladies are a solid 4/5. They work hard and deserve the recognition. Management Rating: 3 Bally's poker room is well managed. The computerized list management system obviously helps in this regard. Management was also wise to setup a podium at the entrance of the poker room, separate from the cashier, which is very helpful for keeping players organized. All list management takes place at the podium. Unlike at some other Vegas poker rooms, at Bally's you will not have to stand in a disorganized line of players where half want to get on the list and the other half want to buy-in/cash-out.
