Planet Hollywood Player Room Review

Call me impressed after 1 visit!!!
08/21/08, Player: champster

Total Rating: 4.25

Room Quality Rating: 4
Room Quality Description: The room was plush. Flat screens and soft brown fabric surrounded the 15 table room (no #13 table!)At first it took a minute getting used to the kareeokkee (sic) going on directly behind the room but after a while it was cool. Not a room for 1 who likes silence though! At first I was a little thrown off by the fact that they had no electronic waiting list. ( Probably because all my play on the previous days was at Red Rock or Palace Station and they both have the screens and Palace even calls out your name on the main floor when your seat is ready). Comfy Chairs and ample room between players!

Competition Rating: 5
Competition Description: Oh My GOD!! I played 2/4 limit for about an hour before it sunk in that 1 - every flop sees 9 callers 2 - some of the most clueless people in a America play poker at P.H. 3 - Patience must at an all time high when playing at P.H. Example on 1 hand there were people calling and raising into a 4 club board, on the river, with no pair showing.... The original better on the river had 2 pair - no clubs(fives and dueces) and the player to his left was raising with 2 pair Kings and 2's.The guy sitting next to me is showing me the Ace of Clubs before the river so when the 4th club hits I know he's gonna get paid but a bet and raise in front of him and a RERAISE from the KINGS and Dueces!. Standard action , at least this past Tuesday, at P.H. Oh B.t.w. I asked whispered to the dealer that this is crazy and he let me know that it " happens every day". Nice folks though just clueless and probably have no concerns about dropping 1 or 2 hundred in a low limit game!

Dealer Rating: 5
Dealer Description: Not 1 mistake made! I played from 8 p.m. to 2 a.m. then took a break and walked to Fatburger. Came back and then dealer just wanted to know if I wanted to wait form my blinds. No wise comment about where you been or any of the stuff you sometimes hear. 1 dealer, Jason, was top notch. I had him at my first table when I first sat down and again about 5 hours later. I even asked him later about how much it costs for 1 of those hats ( they had some P. H. poker room hats behind the counter) and he said " NO PROBLEM...What color you want Blue or GREEN?". A dealer with class!!!! That's what all the dealers at P.H. had in common. Some of the friendliest, sharpest and most courteous I have ever met!!

Cocktail Rating: 4
Cocktail Description: I drink black coffee, diet coke and Odoul's. My cup holder was never...I repeat never without a half filled drink when the waitress came by. It helps that the bar is directly behind the room too!!!

Management Rating: 4
Management Description: It's obvious that they are still working out the kinks! However 1 manager in particular, Jennifer was very polite abd efficient. I put my name on the list and wnet to see the show Stomp. Came back she let me know that they had called my name and did not hesitate to put it right back on. About an hour into my playing she relieved a dealer who had to leave for a moment, dealt a fews hands and then was back at her desk. She and "John" ran the room which had a ladies tournament going on also and another tourney starting at 10 p.m. with an obvious desire to make sure that the players were treated nicely and seatewd as soon as possible. KUDOS to Jennifer and John.

Comps Rating: 4
Comps Description: High hands from quad dueces to Royals( from $50.00 to $599.00). Posted on an electronic screen. The comps are a food comp. BUT all you have to do is ask for 1 and it can be anywhere from 4 bucks to TEN bucks. Whatever you like regardless of how long you have played. You need a 10 dollar comp...you ask for a ten dollar comp. S-I-M-P-L-E!!!!!! (NOTE) Common sense dictates that you don't sit down and play 1 hand then go ask for a 10 dollar comp.! However there was nothing that I saw that would indicate that anyone who asked for anything could not get it. Heck I still have a $10.00 comp for the EARL of SANDWICH that I forgot was in my pocket until I got home to Buffalo!!
