Imperial Palace Player Room Review
Great and friendly lowstakes room!
07/13/08, Player: Dommelen
Total Rating: 3.95
Room Quality Rating: 3
Room Quality Description: The room is not very large, with (I guess) 6 tables. The room is seperated with some small fences, which is not bad and which attracs many first-time poker players. However, it can get a bit noisy from the rest of the casino, especially he dealertainers performances. But it wasn't irritating for me.
All in all a very nice poker room at the middle of the strip. And who can not love the low hotel prices, which was not bad at all ?!?
Competition Rating: 5
Competition Description: Many first time players and players who can/will not lay down hands. I played mainly 2/4 limit where the competition was very easy. A friend of me played 1/2 NL where he found the competition very easy to moderate, depending on the table. Specifically the evenings/nights are extremely juicy.
When players know what they are doing it is easily to see and act accordingly. The Aces cracked promotion (which is + EV, according to me) attracts mainly tigh-weak locals.
Dealer Rating: 5
Dealer Description: Good dealers. Hardly any mistakes, and if so, they are fastly corrected. Some were a bit faster than others, which is normal. Most dealers did some table talk but not too much. However, I am a silent person (don't talk too much) and many tables were a bit silent according to me.
At one moment I saw some easy to identify marked cards (weared off) and they were individually replaced, which was strange to me. However, in another instance the complete deck was replaced. Later I noticed completely new cards which are more flexible.
Cocktail Rating: 5
Cocktail Description: Extremely attractive and FAST. They really try their best and deserve good tips! They can be compared to the upper class casinos on the strip.
Management Rating: 4
Management Description: Friendly management which did a good job at managing the waiting lists. Mostly the chips were brought to you at the table, which is a good thing. They even remembered your name and favorite game after 1 day of playing!
Sometimes there was no floor and cashier personell, but mostly it was managed pretty well. One bold guy was blunt/snappy and not offering the best of his assistance, which is too bad compared the rest of the management.
Comps Rating: 4
Comps Description: 2 dollars an hour, which is on your total rewards card 1 or 2 days after the end of the session. We had some troubles with using the comps for our hotel bill, but that's probably not poker related. Eventually it was all arranged.
The comps-system is very accurate and easy to use. It's also easy to see if a player is new to this poker pit; their players card needs to be updated at their first poker session :-)
