Luxor Player Room Review
Great for a small room
03/18/08, Player: Austin1227
Total Rating: 4.70
Room Quality Rating: 5
Room Quality Description: This room is top quality. Very nice tables with good sight lines to the sports book. It is located on the main casino floor just a short walk from the pit games. Half of the room has a makeshift wall, the other half is a velvet rope. This room is great for attracting hotel guests and they are walking from their rooms to the casino floor. And great too for sports betters.
Competition Rating: 4
Competition Description: I played in the 3/6 limit game and the 1/2 no limit game. The limit games were very soft with many players just enjoying their time and not worrying at all about trying to maximize profits. The NL game was a little tougher with only 2 or 3 players at each table that were in more than their fair share of hands. The limit games would typically take 6 or 7 players to the flop.
Luxor has some of the cheapest tournies around. So that attracts a lot of players that are just trying to get their feet wet in the game.
Dealer Rating: 5
Dealer Description: Some of the best in town. They are quite and professional. They do not try to steal the show, and they do not believe there time in the box is akin to being on stage. That is a nice change from some of the local rooms where the dealers try to entertain!
Cocktail Rating: 5
Cocktail Description: Rosario was our waitress all four days we played here. She is awesome. Not the best looking girl on the strip, but she was friendly, fast, and extremely proficient. She treated my wife and I like we were the most important people there (which of course we weren't, but it felt nice!)
Management Rating: 5
Management Description: Management is very consistant. They run the high hand of the hour, tournaments, and waiting lists without a computer aided system. You would think this might slow things down. But it doesn't. They were always on top of things.
Comps Rating: 4
Comps Description: I thought the comps were very good. They have a high hand of the hour, but that is funded by the table. But, at certain slow hours this is a +EV promotion, they are not running enough table to completely cover the high hand for that hour. Of course this trend is reversed at buisy times.
For every three hours of play they will give you a GC to the resteraunt of your choice, it is only $5, but it is still well above the standard $1 an hour at other places. They also do great room deals. Our rooms were marked down to 100 for the weekends and 80 for the weeknights.
