Paris Player Room Review
Getting worse, not better

Room Quality Rating: 2
Room Quality Description: The room atmosphere is one of convenience. This room does not make money for the Hotel, so it is there - in an akward spot - as a mere convenience...and after a while, you feel it (pictures on this site are not of the actual poker room). Also, they have gone to 9 handed tables. I understand they have done it to try to get more tables going, but that along with the higher rake and promo money taken from each pot, it is definitelyl a negative.
Another negative of the location is the cell phone rule, and the drifting smoke. It is illegal to have a phone in a sportsbook, so you have to listen to the staff chastise players about their phones about 10 times per hour...it gets old. You almost feel sorry for them having it be such a big part of their job description.
Competition Rating: 5
Competition Description: They only have 1-2 NL tables going - even on the weekends. Competition is 80% novices and 20% average. However, hard to make money against novices, unless you play tight and trap. Definitely a hard way to make money, as they never fold.
Dealer Rating: 3
Dealer Description: Some good dealers, some bad..as always. Chip and Jesse stand out in my memory as solid dealers. However, even the good ones let anything go (ridiculously slow play, talking about the board while in hands, players commenting on what they folded, etc). If you are used to playing by the rules and poor etiquette being frowned upon, go to the bigger rooms in Vegas, as I saw it all in this room. I was stunned that more players did not complain, but I think it was because they didn't know any better - however, the dealers should.
Cocktail Rating: 4
Cocktail Description: Close to the bar, friendly, no complaints here.
Management Rating: 4
Management Description: Although a couple of the supervisors bad some bad rulings, and I have problems with the room in general, there is a person (I think he is the room manager) named Logan, that is personable, assertive, and takes his job seriously. He should definitelly be working in a room that is as equally positive, and as equally proactive in giving the player a good experience. If he is the manager, he needs to get everyone else below him to share his outlook, but that aside, his skills shine as a person looking out for both the room, and the player.
Comps Rating: 1
Comps Description: Comps are $1 per hour, which is fairly standard. However, rake is 10% max up to $5 and another $1 per pot is taken out for promo's. Add it all up and the negative comps are well higher than most other rooms...especially since they are 9 handed tables. Most other rooms are max of $4..and some, like Binions, are 5%, not 10%.
