Mirage implements new "Player Friendly" rules updates, effective today!
Mirage implements new series of rules to make room more player friendly.
Date: 07/03/09
Room: Mirage
Summary: The new poker room manager at Mirage has implemented a new series of rules designed to make the room more "player friendly".
Content: Christopher Coffin, the new Mirage Poker Room manager formerly of Treasure Island, has introduced a new series of rules effective today designed to make the Mirage poker room more "player friendly".
Coffin introduced the following new rules after soliciting feedback from the players, his own staff and from personal experiences.
The new rules are the following:
1) No Limit Straddles - The game is No Limit, the Straddle is considered a raise, therefore logic clearly dictates that a Straddle should be just like any other raise which means the straddle has no limit. Straddles wills till only be allowed from the standard straddle position (UTG).
2) No posting - We are going to go with no posting in all games. You can let the button go by you if you really need to before starting to play. But beware no posting abusers will have sanctions put on them.
3) Table Transfers for No Limit games will be treated as "seat transfers" which means whatever you have in front of you in your current seat is what you will have in front of you in your new seat.
4) A new twist that I have not seen or head of before - The maximum buy-in for a capped buy-in No Limit game will be equal to the smallest stack on the table or the capped buy-in amount, whichever is larger. (Example: Normal maximum buy-in of $300, every player at the table has $800 or more in front of them. A new player to the table can buy-in for up to $800.)
5) In cash games, once the hand is down to two players, they are allowed to expose one or both of their hole cards.
6) Four-card Flops - We are going to use the system of scrambling (reshuffling) only the four cards that were flopped, three of them will be reflopped and the 4th card becomes the burn card for the turn. This ensures that at least 4 of the 5 cards that were supposed to be on the board are on the board.
7) We are not using the Must Move System any longer and will instead use a Game Protection System. This will ensure the "main game" is protected and allows players to choose which table they want to play on. (This is only used in certain games at The Mirage.)
We are getting an ALL IN / CALL disc for use in No Limit games and tournaments. They will be limited in number until the full order shows up.
The method of killing hands in tournaments when cards have been exposed is gone. Players will be warned, served with round penalties, and disqualified from play, but their hands will not be killed.
The conclusion of a hand (and thus the time frame for error correction) is when all the up cards have been mucked (as opposed to when the dealer starts to shuffle or pushes the green button on the shuffler). The reason for this is that there are times when there is a delay between the cards are mucked to the green button being pushed (such as fills) so it makes more sense to move it to when all the cards are mucked.
