This is the perfect part-time gig for a sharp and intelligent college student. I would love to hire a UNLV or CCSN student. Journalism major is not required, but proven ability to research, write, and play poker is required.
Job responsibilities may include:
- Visiting Las Vegas poker rooms to conduct reviews while playing cards.
- Drafting articles and news bulletins about the Las Vegas poker scene.
- Interviewing wild and shady Las Vegas poker characters.
- Interviewing poker room managers, dealers, and other poker staff.
- Keeping the poker tournament database up-to-date.
Not only will you become an expert on the Las Vegas poker scene, you will learn about:
- Building an interactive web 2.0 community.
- Internet marketing and advertising.
- Copyright law and Internet legal issues.
Job Requirements
- Must love poker, and have some experience playing in Las Vegas card rooms.
- Must love to research and write.
- Must have a sense of humor.
- Must have references.
- Must be at least 21 years old.
- Must live in Las Vegas.
- Must have reliable transportation to/from poker rooms.
- Must have a transcript available upon request.
- Must have writing samples available upon request.
Hours and Pay
- Will probably require 10-20 hours per week.
- Pay is $15 to $20 per hour.
- Schedule is flexible.
- No office time required, you can draft your work from home.
